Facilities at the 4-H Center

 

Cascara House:  This two-story, self-contained, adult and older youth conference lodge is complete with six bedrooms, restrooms with showers on two floors, a kitchen, and a large meeting/lounging area.  Each bedroom accommodates up to four persons on four bunk beds for a total of 24 persons.  The common area can be set for meetings of up to 30 people.  Meals can be provided by 4-H Center staff.

 

 

Clark Dining Hall: The dining hall is a large rustic facility featuring a floor-to-ceiling fireplace made from native petrified wood.  Recently remodeled this facility can now seat up to 200 people for family style meals, with additional seating on the deck.

 

Greider Lodge: Greider Lodge is downhill from the core area and horse camp and features a stone fireplace, kitchen, outdoor chapel area and a deck overlooking the oak savannah landscape.  It provides a great setting for weddings, anniversary parties, birthday parties and other special events. As a conference hall it can provide seating for up to 150 people in various layouts. It is a versatile building and is available from mid-September through May 31st. It is not available during the summer months.

 

Cottages: There are five cottages ideal for small meetings and overnight retreats. Each Cottage is fully contained with a small meeting room and refreshment area, and four bedrooms which sleep four each. 1-Fox and 2-Whipple Cottages each have one bathroom. 3-Schink, 4-Hansen, and 5-Spirit Mountain Cottages each have two bathrooms.

 

 

Stewart Chapel: This is a unique stone and wood faced edifice that accommodates classes and meetings with a lecture seating format for 40 people.

Youth Camp Bunkhouses: Youth camp sleeping facilities in six, year-round bunkhouses with electricity and forced air heat will sleep 160 persons.  Cabins 1-Conifer, 2-Sequoia, 3-Ponderosa and 4-Madrone each sleep 20 persons.  Cabins 5-Big Pine and 6-Lone Oak sleep 40 each.  

Hutton Amphitheater: This beautiful outdoor facility seats 300 and is complete with covered stage, flood lights and electrical outlets.  It has a ceremonial fire pit.

 

Weyerhaeuser Shelter: This open-air shelter was designed for multi-purpose use.  It has a range, a refrigerator, running water, a restroom, electric lights and outlets, and a fire pit.

 

 

Sawmill Pond: This area is dedicated to outdoor education.  It includes three teaching stations and a wildlife observation blind.  

 

Horse Camp: This area features a large barn, tie stalls, 10 beds in each of four bunkhouses, and a beautiful arena built by the Polk County Saddle-Ites. The nearby schooling field provides open space for dressage, games or tent/trailer camping.  There are picnic tables, restrooms with shower facilities, day rider parking, a kitchenette, water, electricity, and a fire circle.  The Horse Camp is available mid-May through September.

 

Swimming Pool: The T J Starker swimming pool is a 40' x 60' solar-heated pool.  A concrete deck is surrounded by a landscaped, grassy area.  The complex features modern sanitary and dressing facilities.  The pool is available from mid-June through mid-September.

 

Pagoda Pond: This is the largest of the numerous spring-fed, man-made ponds on the property. There are six canoes and two splash Kayaks for use by campers when a qualified 4-H Center lifeguard is present.  Limited catch-and-release fishing is allowed with advance permission and arrangements have been made with the 4-H Center office.
